President Obama, I respect you and hold you in high regard. I know getting past the IRA seems impossible, but can you tell us how you tried to limit or ban assault rifles while in office? You have written a nice heartfelt response to a tragedy that happened in the town where my 20-year old goes to college, where he and many of his friends grocery shop. I have heard stories of heroism and of bone-chilling, frightening accounts. Luckily, they are all safe. But, the time for prayers for the victims of gun violence has long passed. It's trite. We need real change and real laws--both for mental health and guns. Please help with this as I'm sure you still have a large pull and influence in Washington.
